Some restaurant in Greenbelt

The second week I am here, we had to look at some office furniture at Blims in Greenbelt. Everybody else had been to this restaurant before and Dino was in the mood for beef, so...

Lola's order

Lola ordered this slow cooked short rib served on top of bok choy with red rice. Not bad. The meat was falling off the bone tender and decently seasoned.

Jenny's lunch

Jenny ordered crispy adobo which actually wasn't very crispy. Going with the sort of East meets West feel, the lunch was plated western style, with roasted garlic on the side and white rice. The first couple bites were pretty good but after a while the intensity of the super spiked vinegar caused palate fatigue. She slogged through to the end though.

Dino's order

Dino ordered the petite steak with fries. Not bad but also not memorable.

Manolo's order

I got bagnet (deep fried pork, Ilocano style) with red rice on the side. the pork was drizzled with something that tasted like balsamic reduction which was good at cutting the extreme richness of the pork. The red rice was dense and chewy. This was the best dish we ordered as far as taste.

Dino imagining he ordered something else

brasso de mercedes cake/pie

We all wanted just a spoon of something for dessert, so I ordered this. Don't know what attracted me to it in the first place but we were all pleasantly surprised that I did. It was an "interpretation" of the classic cake which is made of eggs and condensed milk. The bottom was graham cracker crust, then ice cream that was made in house which suggested the flavor of brasso, then a sticky sweet layer of eggy condensed milk sauce which is inside real brasso, then meringue which is also in real brasso, then some orange zest. Finally it is sitting on top of more of that eggy condensed milk sauce. Very tasty.
