Sushi Kappo Kibikicho

I had read about this on several food blogs and was very interested in trying it. It is owned by 4 Japanese chefs and one of them goes to Japan every week to buy stuff. According to blogs, they said it was the best sushi restaurant in Manila.

Well some of the stuff is indeed pretty good.

Is it as good as eating in Japan? Nope.

How about the prices? Over. As in overpriced.

With the exception of the tendon and/or kakiage, I would give this place a pass in the future. In fact Lola complained to the waitress that the fish was cut quite on the skimpy side. A few minutes later, they sent us a negi toro maki, "sabisu".

amuse bouche

sunomono

sushi moriawase

Decently composed nigiri plate. Except each piece was as long and as thick as my thumb. That ain't big. All for P1800 or $40. Not worth it by a long shot.

kakiage don

Lola ordered this and said it was easily the best she has ever had in the Philippines hands down. She liked to small size due to her diminished appetite. As for me and Dino, well...

zuke don

Dino ordered the zuke don which is one of their specialties. This is maguro that has been marinated slightly in a type of soy sauce dashi. The ikura on top was also marinated. Pretty good. Dino though doesn't eat ikura. Also this dish including rice and everything was the size of half a grapefruit.

chirashi zushi

I ordered this. Like Dino's it was the size of half a grapefruit. For scale note the ebi. This was P2000, or $44.
